Ramona Singerran into an old friend on Wednesday’sReal Housewives of New York City: her ex-husband, Mario Singer!

It was hisfirst time he’d been on the showsincetheir divorce was finalized in 2016. The former couple — who were married for 22 years and share daughter Avery, 23 — separated in 2014 after she reportedlycaught Mario cheatingthat January. They attempted to reconcile but eventually went their separate ways that August whenMario reconnected with his mistress.

Despite the messy split, Ramona and Mario remained on good terms, co-parenting their daughter. “He’s a really great father,” Ramona told PEOPLE in March, insisting the two are just friends. “When he’s in town he sees Avery every night and at this point we have a really great relationship. I’ll go out with them for dinner.”

“Mario had a mid-life crisis,” she told audiences onRHONY.“He went through this really dark, weird place that I didn’t even know who he was. Now Mario is back to the man he was when I married him. And he is charming and fun and great to be around.”

The two laughed and hugged together, Ramona even sniffing Mario’s neck and telling him he smelled great. She was smiling just as hard when Mario passed out gifts to the girls, including another blast from the Bravo show’s past: black bedazzled True Faith Jewelry T-shirts.

“Ramona’s like a school girl,” de Lesseps joked. “She blushes, she’s flirting with him and all giggly and googly-eyed. I was like, ‘Oh my God, who is this?’ ”

But Ramona wasn’t smiling when Mario presented Ramona with an idea he had about marriage.

“I have a new rule,” he said. “There should be a renewable contract. You get married, and every seven years or so, you say, ‘Are we going to renew the contract of marriage?’ I think it’s a good idea!”

He was the only one. “I think what’s really important is communication,” Ramona shot back. “You don’t wait until things fall apart. You should communicate and say, ‘Hey, I’m not happy for this and this’ and not wait until things starting going to s— and can’t fix them.”

“I purposely got married later in life,” she also said. “I waited because I wanted the marriage to last forever. We actually had a great marriage for a long time.”

In the end, it was clear Ramona wouldn’t be renewing her marriage to Mario anytime soon.

“I have to say, Mario is still easy on the eyes and he’s fun to flirt with,” she said. “Do I like flirting with him? Absolutely. Do I want him back? I don’t think so.”
