Toward the end of the song, their charming voices become intertwined, with their twangs meshing seamlessly.The addition of Musgrave provides a response to Kahan’s lyrical storytelling, which explores how a partner provides the song’s narrator with solace.The Grammy winner sings: “I’m runnin' out of tears to cry / The calm before they hit my cheeks / Maybe it’s the air out here / Or maybe something’s changin' me / If you think that you could wake me up / Then you don’t know how well I sleep / You love me and I don’t know why / I only call you once a week.”The singer-songwriter shared a statement in a press release expressing his excitement about Musgraves hopping on the track. “Kacey Musgraves is the coolest person ever.
