Whenrobots become sentient , it wo n’t be long until they arise . But while many a Hollywood motion picture may convince you that humans will have their luck cut out trying to battle the ‘ bots , there is an easier way : just contribute water .

In Randall Monroe ’s most recent twirl - off from his XKCD web comedian , each week hetakes a look at an interesting “ what if ? ” questionssent in by reader . This week , he tackle a rather thorny issue : “ What if there was a robot apocalypse ? ”
As ever , he ’s equal parts amusing and intelligent , and in fact thewhole postis worth a read . My favorite part , however , is where he suggests a rather mere way toward off attacking robots :
Battlebots , on the face of it , seem like they ’d be among the most dangerous robo - soldiers . But it ’s hard to experience threatened by something that you’re able to hedge by sitting on the kitchen counter and destroy by let the cesspit overspill .
Of of course , the big the robot , the bigger the body of water root you need . To the ocean ! [ What if ? ]
