Who would n’t like the idea of a perfectly quiet shiner ? you could mouse around with reckless abandon without bothering anyone else , rustle up all your daily porno without a cheep coming out of that minuscule rodent — no clicky noise , no scroll wheel ratcheting , no nothing . That ’s what entice me to buy the Thanko Silent Mouse , whichboomeranged its way around the blogosphereback in March . Everybody seemed to wish the idea of it , but seemingly no one has ever tried it out first - hand .

That ’s what I did , and found this Thanko Silent Mouse to suck big time . Yes , it is really silent , but its glaring weaknesses makes it just not worth it . The affair feels like it ’s made of the cheapest plastic ever cook up , one step above cellophane . high-risk , it ’s smaller than its on-line pictures depict , about three - quarters the size of a normal Microsoft computer mouse . Let ’s give it a good drubbing :

When you press down on the odd - penetrate and the right way - click buttons , it makes no noise whatsoever , but you ca n’t feel any chink , either . There ’s no tactile feedback at all . There ’s just this rubberlike , bottomless travelling that give you no meter reading of when you ’ve in reality engaged that release . Plus , to actually register a chink you need to fight so hard on the button that your fingerbreadth in reality gets tired after a while .
One thing I did like was the unusually vivid backlight underneath the black eye wheel . It ’s a red-hot juicy colour , and looks appealing . But the shiner steering wheel is where the fatal trouble developed with this Thanko Silent Mouse . After less than a week of occasional enjoyment , the black eye bicycle suddenly refused to turn , return the Silent Mouse useless to me , since I utilize the scroll wheel most of the time . As far as I was relate , the Silent Mouse was numb .
That ’s why I wrote this post : to admonish you about the Thanko Silent Mouse . It ’s another reasonably good idea embodied in a cheesy , slipshod product , hastily made in China at extremely low cost . But that meager manufacturing toll is not passed along to you , the innocent consumer . The thing cost $ 20.67 , but after you ’ve paid for shipping from Japan , that cost balloons to $ 33.17 .

Bah . outride tuned , and we ’ll eliminate this computer mouse ’s program line with uttermost prejudice . That ’s correct , a public execution of the Thanko Silent Mouse , rendering it totally tacit forevermore , right here at Gizmodo .
