Jonah Ray is getting to live out every nerd ’s fantasy by becoming the unexampled host of Mystery Science Theater 3000 . And that passion is understandably needed given how much body of work goes into each episode .
In an in - depthinterviewwith the Los Angeles Times , Ray and Joel Hodgson talk about a whole fix of things fascinating to buff , but the bit that really stood out was Ray lecture about how tight and tiring the shot was :
Our schedule was so stiff that we just sprint into doing the shoots . The show is so relaxed , but the genuine process of doing it — my legs were aim sore from how many time I had to gross out out because of the movie sign . One thing that was so great was when Joel would come on in between the movie section . I remember he said , ” When you arrive onto screen , just blast onto the screen . explode on like you ’re in a sway and roster performance . ” I was also teach how to work airscrew , how to do sleight - of - hand trick on the smear .

And , you know , vocalizing , working with puppet , doing skit , all in essentially one take . That ’s serious work . It ’s kind of well-heeled to forget , since the show has a laid - back vibration and always had a homemade sensitivity to it , but it ’s almost hilariously complex .
