The driver who allegedly killed fourPepperdine University students in a car crashin Malibu, Cali. last week has been arrested on charges of murder, according to police.
The victims of the crash were identified as seniors Niamh Rolston, Peyton Stewart, Asha Weir, and Deslyn Williams, in an Oct. 18news releasefrom Pepperdine University.
Bohm, 22, had been arrested on a charge of gross vehicular manslaughter immediately after the crash, authorities said. However he was “subsequently released to allow detectives time to gather the evidence needed to secure the strongest criminal filing and conviction,” the release said.
“These types of traffic investigations are very extensive and there are various investigative factors that are involved,” the statement continued. “Our detectives worked diligently to compile all the evidence needed so they could file the maximum charges allowed under California law.”
According to the release, “In this specific case, the evidence including toxicology, speed analysis, execution of search warrants, etc. was still pending and took additional time to collect.”
Bohm’s bail was set at $8,000,000 with a scheduled court appearance for Wednesday.

The tragic incident took place on Oct. 17. According to the release, at about 8:30 p.m detectives from the Malibu/Lost Hills Station responded to a “multiple-victim fatal traffic collision” at the 21600 block of Pacific Coast Highway.

“There are too many people on this stretch of highway that have been killed,” she added, according to areport from KTLA.
Seetoo continued, “We are working with the community … to make sure that people are educated about the dangers of PCH, and to slow down.”

According toThe Malibu Times, the women were outside at a Halloween party when the crash occurred.
Last weekABC7 reportedthat the four students were all seniors at Pepperdine’s Seaver College of Liberal Arts and were sorority sisters. The outlet also detailed the ages of the four women: Rolston was 20 years old and Stewart, Weir and Williams were all 21.
“In this time of immeasurable grief and heartache, we stand together as a community and turn to our faith and each other to find hope and healing in the midst of this tragedy,” Pepperdine University said in astatementthe day after tragic deaths.
“Each departed student brought a unique gift and spirit to the University, and we deeply grieve the unfulfilled hopes and aspirations of our precious community members.”
“The pain we collectively bear may be overwhelming, especially to those who best knew and loved these students,” the statement continued. “The University stands ready to provide spiritual and emotional support to all members of our Pepperdine family.”
In the Tuesday press release the Sheriff’s Department said they were “relentlessly working to ensure we get justice for the victims’ families,” and added that, “Our thoughts are with each family, friends, and students of each victim during this difficult time.”
