Christina Applegateis getting brutally candid about her journey with multiple sclerosis.
In an emotional interview withGood Morning America’sRobin Robertspreviewed Monday, the actress opened up about the swell of support she’s received after publicly disclosing her diagnosis in 2021, revealing that she feels the love from fans.
“The support is wonderful and I’m really grateful,” Applegate, 52, told Roberts, admitting that sitting for the chat alongside friend and fellow actressJamie-Lynn Sigler, 42, who also has MS, isn’t easy. “I live kind of in hell. I’m not out a lot, so this is feeling a little difficult just for my system.”
Applegate and Sigler forged a friendship amid their shared journey with MS, opening up to PEOPLE this week about their remarkable bond.
“MS brought us together,“Sigler tells PEOPLE in a sit-down interviewwith the two actresses for next week’s issue.
“We have each other and that’s helped us so much,” says Applegate.
TheDead to Meactress experienced a swell of support in person back in January, when she appeared on the 2023Emmy Awardsto present the awards for outstanding supporting actress and outstanding lead actress in a comedy series.
“People said, ‘Oh you were so funny.’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t even know what I said. Like, I don’t know what I was doing!' " said theMarried with Childrenstar. “I got so freaked out that I didn’t even know what was happening anymore.”
“I felt really beloved and it was really a beautiful thing,” she added.
But the comic actress couldn’t help but display her signature sense of humor when it came to the standing ovation she received from the crowd at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
“I’m just going to say this… that audience stood up for everybody…” she joked.

Last May, Applegate toldVanity Fairthat shedoes not expect to work as an actor againfollowing the third and final season ofDead to Me, which premiered on Netflix in November 2022.
“Right now, I couldn’t imagine getting up at 5 a.m. and spending 12 to 14 hours on a set; I don’t have that in me at this moment,” she explained to theLos Angeles Times, back in February 2023.
